MEET DR. MCFARLAND
Jake earned an associate degree in biology at Garden City Community College from 2010-12. He was a starting/relief pitcher for the Broncbusters baseball team. He transferred to Centenary College of Louisiana where he became an all-conference starting pitcher for the Gents. He received a bachelor's degree in biology from 2013-15. He played one year of independent professional baseball before officially retiring in 2015. He graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Saint Mary in 2019. Following graduation, he relocated to Seattle, Washington to work as a physical therapist at Driveline Baseball. While at Driveline, he was able to assess and treat baseball players from youth, high school, college, and professional ranks. His role was to collaborate with other departments including research and development, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, and coaches, assisting them in designing specific player development plans. His interests in physical therapy include player development, research, manual therapy, pain neuroscience, dry needling, blood flow restriction training, biomechanics, and interventions specific to returning to functional activities. Outside of physical therapy, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, church, travel, the outdoors, and sports.
