Dr. Jacob McFarland PT, DPT

Founder & CEO, Head Physical Therapist

Jake earned an associate degree in biology at Garden City Community College from 2010-12. He was a starting/relief pitcher for the Broncbusters baseball team under Chris Finnegan where he was a part of Jayhawk West Championship in 2011-2012.  He transferred to Centenary College of Louisiana where he became an all-conference starting pitcher for the Gents and was a part of two conference championships in 2013 and 2015.  He received a bachelor's degree in biology from 2013-15 at Centenary College of Louisiana.. He played one year of independent professional baseball before officially retiring in 2015. He graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Saint Mary in 2019.  Following graduation, he relocated to Seattle, Washington to work as a physical therapist at Driveline Baseball. While at Driveline, he was able to assess and treat baseball players from youth, high school, college, and professional ranks. His role was to collaborate with other departments including research and development, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, and coaches, assisting them in designing specific player development plans. In the last 5 years he has consulted with and managed 17 Collegiate and University baseball and softball teams leading to decreased insurance claims, surgeries, and increased performance.  He currently also is a consultant at the MLB level for player development and healthcare. His interests in physical therapy include player development, research, manual therapy, pain neuroscience, dry needling, blood flow restriction training, biomechanics, and interventions specific to returning to functional activities.

Kellan Richards MAS, CSCS, CSNC,MPM

Director of Pitching/ Head Baseball Coach

Kellan earned a Bachelor's degree in health and exercise science and a Master’s degree in sports and fitness management from Missouri Western State University from 2014-2019. While there Kellan was a relief pitcher for the Griffons Baseball Team, helping them to two NCAA regional appearances and setting single season (35) and career appearance records (94).

Kellan immediately began his coaching career in the summer of 2019 by working with the Kansas City Royals Scout Team. Over the next several years he coached hitters and outfielders at Drury University, MidAmerica Nazarene University and Iowa Western Community College, as well as coaching pitchers for a season at Pittsburg State University. Kellan spent 3 total summers with the Royals Scout Team, spent a summer as the manager of the Haymakers in the Corn Belt league in Omaha, and joined the Adapt Staff in May of 2023. A native of Olathe, KS, Kellan is glad to be home in the Kansas City area helping athletes reach their full potential on the field and off.
